STEWARE KOHINGA PODCAST #3 - 'TOM PETTY' - Featuring songs from Tom Petty And Bob Dylan

This is Stewart Kohinga's third instalment in his weekly music covers podcast series.

In this podcast Stewart celebrates the life of Tom Petty with a version of Petty's Refugee (01:05). Followed by a version of Bob Dylan's Masters Of War (06:07).

These weekly podcast's focus on songs Stewart is either working on or are songs that are a reflection of his week.  Tom Petty's passing came the same day as the Las Vegas massacre.

Master's Of War is a reminder that war is something often championed by those who stand to gain from it. One of the harshest war songs written, Master's Of War has a sting in it's tail like no other Dylan song. It still resonates today as we see the war machine move into action around different parts of the globe ready to profiteer from the senseless nature of war.

These songs are once again recorded in Stewart's late Friday night ethos; unadorned, one take recordings infused with folk/Americana stylings.

STEWART KOHINGA'S MUSIC PODCAST #2 'ADDICTION' - Featuring songs from Leonard Cohen, Mary Gauthier, U2, and Kris Kristofferson.

This is Stewart Kohinga's Music Podcast #2 and the theme for this podcast is 'Addiction'.

Leonard Cohen's 'Bird On A Wire' (00:30), Mary Gauthier's 'I Drink' (04:55), U2's 'Running To Stand Still' (11:45), and Kris Kristofferson's 'Sunday Morning Coming Down' (17:46) all get the late night minimalist folk/Americana treatment that Stewart is well known for in his home town of Melbourne, Australia.

These recordings are simple, unadorned, earthy renderings of four very beautiful songs. Stewart aims to find a fresh way of looking at such well known classics with the hope of unlocking their hidden beauty and by doing so paying homage to their composers.
